Places to Visit in Himachal Pradesh

Himachal spans colonial hill stations, Buddhist hill towns and high mountain passes. Shimla and its neighbours Kufri and Chail hold the Raj-era character; Manali is the base for Solang Valley adventure sports and the drive over Rohtang; McLeod Ganj is the seat of the Dalai Lama and the start of the Triund trek; and Chamba district hides Khajjiar, Dalhousie and the temple town of Bharmour. March to June and September to November are the reliable windows — the high passes only open around May.
