Hill Stations & Valleys

Alpine meadows, glaciers and scenic mountain getaways.

22 places

India's hill stations range from Raj-era towns built as summer retreats to high alpine meadows and glacier approaches. The Himalayan foothills of Himachal and Uttarakhand suit most travellers year-round, Kashmir's valleys peak from April to October, and Ladakh's passes open only in high summer. Above roughly 3,000 m, altitude becomes the planning constraint rather than the weather — gain height gradually and keep a buffer day for road closures.
